English Summer Camp in Myanmar

  • ,

Volunteer with us in Myanmar!

TBD

Volunteering in Short-Term Service Trips are a great way to directly help locals, expand perspectives, and build cross-cultural relationships. We plan these service trips not only as a way to interact with the local communities within Myanmar but to also serve their needs both materially and spiritually.

Camp

We are partnering with a Christian school in Myanmar to run two-week-long English Character-building Bible Camp. The day camp will host students ages 6-14 and run from Monday to Friday. It will be broken down to 3 teaching parts: English learning, Character Building lesson (Chinese/English), and Crafts/Activities (Chinese). Volunteers will have the opportunity to teach some Bible lessons and Christian values. In preparation for the camp, volunteers will help develop lessons and activities prior to the trip.

Many of the students attending the camp come from very economically disadvantaged families and may have minimal exposure to English. While Burmese is the most widely spoken language in Myanmar, they also speak Chinese without any problems due to their proximity to China’s border.

Teachers Training

In addition to the camps, we will also run a training program for local government school English teachers. The goal of the training is to better equip and offer techniques for local teachers to teach English in a more creative way. The Teachers Training will be an hour and a half session per day taught in English.
